Presencia de las especies exóticas Melanoides tuberculata (O. F. Müller, 1774) (Caenogastropoda: Thiaridae) y Planorbella duryi (Wetherby, 1879) (Heterobranchia: Planorbidae) en isla Margarita, Venezuela

Resumen

RESUMEN: Fue recolectado un total de 691 moluscos de la microcuenca El Chorro, Municipio Antolín del Campo, isla Margarita, de los cuales 530 correspondieron a dos especies exóticas no registradas previamente para la localidad: Melanoides tuberculata y Planorbella duryi. El predominio de M. tuberculata en los muestreos (76,12% del total de organismos capturados) pareciera indicar que ésta no solo se ha establecido en la localidad, sino que también está desplazando a las especies nativas, mientras que P. duryi representa primer registro para la isla.

ABSTRACT: A total of 691 molluscs were collected from the El Chorro microbasin, Antolín del Campo Municipality, Margarita Island, of which 530 corresponded to two exotic species previously not registered for the locality: Melanoides tuberculata and Planorbella duryi. The predominance of M. tuberculata in the sampling (76.12% of the total number of organisms captured) seems to indicate that this has not only been established in the locality, but is also displacing the native species, while this is the first record of P. duryi from the island.
